Özellikle korku filmleri, Frankeştayn ve Drakula rolleri ile ünlenmiştir. Genellikle mistik ve karanlık rolleri canlandırmış , kariyerinde çok film olmasına rağmen Drakula'nın çeşitli seri filmleriyle ünlenmiş ve en fazla takdir edilen Drakula karakterinden birisi olmayı başarmıştır.
